Thinking Pink!

Why is pink so lovely? When I think pink my mind can just take me to such beautiful places.
My garden theme this year will be pink! ( of course there will be other colors that I wont be able
to turn away too) But mainly the beautiful pinks! Well off to the Nursery! and then to the dirt!

Bloom

I have been so busy lately that I have neglected my blogging!!
However... I have been enjoying the beauty of the outdoors ( The lilacs and snowballs are in bloom) ...and my family. I have also been so excited to become an illustrator selling stock on line! It is way fun! I have always loved art, drawing ,doodling ...and now ...to have an excuse to do it is so much fun!! Images are racing through my head, and I never have a time when I dont have oodles of things I want to get down on paper! And I can still stay home and be a mom. Perfect!

Hoping for Holly hocks

Ok ... I just cannot wait until my Holly Hocks come!!!!!
They are so lovely and loyal! They just keep coming and coming, and their blooms are so generous even in our climate's unforgiving heat of the summer . What other beautiful flower will just keep blooming when so many are hiding their little faces waiting for cooler temperatures? I do however have to keep picking them so they do not go to seed and quit blooming. I also love photographing the giant bumblebees that adore these huge blossoms! well the plants are nice and green now and are just waiting to send up their sturdy stocks. I do like to pinch the first few buds off of the top to encourage full bushy stocks , and to discourage extremely tall spindly ones!

It's a Robin kind of day!!!!

For as long as I can remember a robin has been the first sign of spring!!!!
And here He is in all of his glory!!! I don't know about you ...but I am thrilled
and have been anticipating the arrival of Spring for many weeks! I have been in my garden working...and there is oh so much work to do! But... I have enjoyed it , and have many plans for the yard this year...( of course I always do!) I have planted Forgetmenots (chinese, and Blue Bird), Shirley Poppies, Candytuft, Bachelors Buttons, HollyHocks , Snap Dragons and Larkspur ! I really hope that something comes up!!!!! Lately, my Forgetmenots have "forgot" to come up.... very frustrating!!! I also plan to plant a few more roses! I just adore my roses. I especially like the David Austin roses , and I usually have to send away for those. One of the ones I really have my eye on this year is; "The Generous Gardener" strange name, but a very Beautiful rose!!!!!!!! Another is "Katheryn Morley" a beautiful rose.
I also plan to visit my favorite nursery...and purchase some beautiful annuals! I will also plant some seeds, but I am sure I will want some back up ,in case my seedlings don't work.....
One of my most favorite flowers is Nicotiana..."Sylvestris" which is a tall white "JASMINE SCENTED" variety which is just breath takingly BEAUTIFUL!!!! As far as I know you have to mail order those seeds too! I really have to hurry with that!!!!! WEll!!! Happy Gardening every one... and Happy ST. Patricks Day! Maybe if we plant today we will have extra good luck???

February Sunsets and frosty evenings

One of my favorite pastimes is to enjoy the sunsets! When evening rolls around, I watch out my kitchen window while I am doing my motherly chores of dishes or baking. Each time I see a spectacular pink sunset , I race to find my camera and run upstairs to try to get the best view( where I then open the window and hang out of it with my camera, I'm sure the neighbors are amused). It's a game for me I suppose. Sometimes I can't find my camera, or I have let one of my daughters take it... and I miss capturing the beauty, which always tugs at my heart a little. It never ceases to amaze me how stunningly beautiful the palette of the skies can be!

Wishing for color...and Summer blossoms

Today is a very ,very white day outside....and not that it isn't beautiful in its own way....but I am really missing the warmth and the color!!!!!!!!! I really do have a passion for gardening and photographing that which I do! I love the fragrance and sound of summer!!! I must admit I am even missing the bugs! You know, the hard working little honey bees, the lovely butterflies, the huge dragonflies , not to mention those adoreable ladybugs!
